MSI Afterburner, one of the most widely used utilities for monitoring and overclocking graphics cards, is set to receive a new feature intended to help users better understand how their GPUs behave under load. According to Tom's Hardware, an upcoming update will add a heatmap to the software's voltage/frequency (V/F) curve editor, visualizing a card's boosting behavior during real workloads.
What the Heatmap Adds
The V/F curve editor is a long-standing tool in Afterburner that lets users adjust the relationship between the voltage supplied to a GPU and the clock speed it targets. Fine-tuning this curve is a common technique for enthusiasts seeking higher performance, greater efficiency, or lower operating temperatures than a card's default settings provide.
