Apple has unveiled the AirPods 5, the newest generation of its non-Pro, open-ear earbuds. According to GSMArena and Android Authority, the range comes in two versions and, for the first time, both include active noise cancellation.
The two configurations differ by case. One ships with a standard USB-C charging case, while the other adds wireless charging and stem-based touch controls. Apple says the AirPods 5 deliver improved sound quality and stronger noise cancellation, and the company claims they offer the best active noise cancellation available for an open-ear design.
GSMArena reported that the AirPods 5 are cheaper than their predecessors on a spec-for-spec basis. The base AirPods 4 launched in 2024, and unlike that generation, which offered one model with ANC and one without, active noise cancellation now comes as standard across the entire AirPods 5 line.
