Atari is retiring its modern VCS platform, with the company set to close the device's software store in early 2027, according to Tom's Hardware.
The reimagined VCS, a hybrid console-PC built around a Linux-based system and an AMD APU, launched in mid-2021 after a series of delays. Atari has now confirmed, via an announcement dated October 21 and a statement from a moderator of the Atari Club Discord channel, a timeline for winding the platform down.
Users will be able to add software to their libraries through the official store until January 31, 2027. The store will then close on February 1, 2027.
