Organizations across the Africa–Europe technology corridor that rely on widely used content management systems may face heightened exposure following a new warning from Australian authorities. The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) has issued an alert describing a global campaign aimed at exploiting weaknesses in content management systems (CMS) and their associated plugins, according to reporting by BleepingComputer.
What the Alert Describes
According to BleepingComputer, the ACSC's advisory centers on a worldwide exploitation effort directed at vulnerable CMS software and plugin components. CMS platforms underpin a large share of websites and online services globally, powering everything from small business pages to large institutional portals. Because plugins extend the core functionality of these systems, they can introduce additional points of weakness if they are outdated or improperly maintained.
