Capcom has said it intends to focus on reviving dormant intellectual property after the launch of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the company announced on September 7.
The publisher confirmed that the game sold more than one million units on its first day. According to TechPowerUp, Way of the Sword holds a Steam review rating of 87 percent positive and a Metascore of 85. It is the first new mainline entry in the Onimusha series in 20 years, following the 2006 release of Dawn of Dreams.
In the same announcement, Capcom said it is concentrating on reactivating IPs that have not seen a recent new title, and that it aims to further increase corporate value by drawing on its existing catalogue of content. As TechPowerUp noted, this points to Capcom pursuing both remakes and new installments across its classic franchises.
