Commodore has announced a special edition of its Commodore 64 Ultimate, called the Commodore 77, developed in partnership with CD Projekt Red and inspired by the aesthetic of the video game Cyberpunk 2077. The company opened pre-orders at commodore.net, with a price of $377 reported by Tom's Hardware.
The machine is more than a cosmetic redesign. According to Tom's Hardware, it uses a faster FPGA, the AMD Artix XC7A100T, and ships with a themed Commodore 77 BASIC 2.0 boot screen. Visual changes include a brushed metal plate to the right of the keyboard deck, a soft turquoise glow, and graffiti tags, distinguishing it from the beige styling of the original system.
Buyers receive an exclusive demo that Commodore says expands the lore of the Cyberpunk universe. TechPowerUp reports the 2MB demo ships on a cartridge with an Arasaka design inspired by the shards from Cyberpunk 2077, and is available only with the Commodore 77.
