European space industry revenues returned to growth in 2025 following a downturn the previous year, according to figures released by the trade association Eurospace. The findings, part of its annual Facts and Figures report, were presented on July 7 and reported by SpaceNews.
A Shift in Market Leadership
One of the notable developments highlighted in the report is that Earth observation satellites have moved ahead of telecommunications in terms of sales across the European space sector. This marks a change in the composition of demand within the industry, where telecom-related activity has traditionally represented a leading share of revenue.
The transition points to growing interest in satellite systems designed to monitor the planet's surface, atmosphere, and environment. Earth observation platforms are used across a range of applications, including climate and environmental monitoring, agriculture, urban planning, disaster response, and security. The rising prominence of this segment reflects broader shifts in how governments and commercial customers are prioritizing space-based data services.
