Grand Theft Auto VI is currently targeting 30 frames per second on consoles, and Rockstar has not committed to a 60 FPS performance mode either at launch or afterward, according to details shared following a private gameplay showcase.
Rockstar revealed GTA 6 gameplay via Netflix, with the demonstration confirmed to be running on a base PlayStation 5. The exact framerate was not disclosed during that public reveal. Additional information reportedly came from a separate behind-the-scenes session at Rockstar North, where content creators were invited to view the game.
YouTuber and journalist Davy Jones of Flow Games attended a showcase where Rockstar North's head of development, Rob Nelson, played the game for more than two hours. Jones later recounted the experience on his Flow Games podcast, saying he could see the game running at 30 FPS and asked about performance modes. According to Jones, Nelson said the game runs at 30 FPS for now and that he would need to check with the technical team regarding whether a 60 FPS option would arrive at launch or later.
