LiveU Sets Transmission Record With 1,700 Units at 2026 FIFA World Cup

LiveU, a company specializing in IP-video transmission and cloud-based remote production, said it set new performance records during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, deploying 1,700 transmission units across the tournament.

According to Sports Video Group, the operation ran for six weeks and covered 104 matches held at 16 stadiums across three host nations: Mexico, the United States, and Canada. LiveU described the deployment as the largest and most complex broadcast footprint in its history.

The company said it provided the IP backbone and remote cloud production ecosystem for a large portion of non-rights and unilateral coverage during the event. This coverage extended beyond the matches themselves to include pre-match briefings, official training sessions, press conferences, in-stadium editorial positions, fan zones, team hotels, and live streams from city centers and public viewing areas. Some broadcasters also used the technology at additional camera positions to gather unilateral feeds for multi-angle coverage.
