Microsoft Guide Shows How AI Can Build Native Windows 11 Apps in About 30 Minutes
A new Microsoft quick-start guide walks developers through building a native WinUI 3 app for Windows 11 using free tools and an AI agent.

Microsoft has released a quick-start guide describing how developers can assemble a native WinUI 3 application for Windows 11 in roughly 30 minutes with the help of AI, according to TechPowerUp.
The outlined workflow relies on free tooling, including VS Code, .NET 10, the free tier of GitHub Copilot, and Microsoft's winapp command-line interface. Because of this setup, developers do not need Visual Studio to complete the process. TechPowerUp reported that the guide covers scaffolding a project, using an AI agent to add features such as a settings page, testing the output, and packaging the app as an MSIX installer for the Microsoft Store.
The AI agent involved, named winui-dev, is distinct from the general Copilot chatbot familiar to many Windows users. It is described as a specialized plugin with capabilities spanning WinUI design, code review, UI testing, packaging, and the migration of older applications.
