MSI has announced that its Intel 800-series motherboards are now optimized to run DDR5 memory based on DRAM from ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT), a development that could widen the pool of affordable high-speed memory available to system builders across Europe, Africa and other regions.
What MSI Announced
According to the company, its Z890 motherboards can achieve stable DDR5-8000+ operation using CXMT-based modules following dedicated BIOS memory tuning. MSI said the support spans its product range, from flagship boards aimed at overclocking to more mainstream designs equipped with four DIMM slots. The announcement was distributed as a press release and reported by TechPowerUp.
MSI described developing memory training routines and timing optimizations tailored specifically to CXMT integrated circuits, and said it validated the outcome through stress testing. The company framed the effort as firmware work rather than a change to the underlying memory silicon.
