Midgar Studio, the Nacon-owned developer of the turn-based JRPG Edge of Eternity, is closing down, according to reports from TechPowerUp and GamesIndustry.biz.
The shutdown stems from a court-ordered liquidation, which came after the studio was unable to secure a buyer. The closure was made public through a LinkedIn post by studio co-founder and current Nacon CTO Jérémy Zeler-Maury, who indicated that efforts were made until the end to find a solution that could keep both the company and its team intact, but that no other option remained after alternatives were exhausted.
The move follows another closure within Nacon earlier this year, when the publisher shut down Spiders, the studio behind GreedFall, citing similar reasons. Nacon later published a GreedFall DLC after that studio had closed.
