A newly discovered piece of malware aimed at Apple's macOS is raising fresh concerns for users and businesses that rely on the platform, including across Europe's growing base of Mac-using developers and startups. According to reporting from Decrypt, the infostealer has been named PamStealer and is designed to capture passwords and additional sensitive information from compromised machines.
How the Malware Spreads
The threat works by impersonating Maccy, an open-source clipboard manager for Mac. By presenting itself as a legitimate and widely used utility, the fake application is positioned to trick users into installing it. Clipboard managers are common productivity tools that store copied text and other content, which can make them an appealing disguise for software attempting to appear trustworthy.
