Nintendo Directs Tariff Refunds Into Sale, Not Switch 2 Buyer Refunds

Nintendo of America is using tariff-related refunds it received to fund a promotional sale rather than returning the money to customers who paid higher prices for the Nintendo Switch 2 and related products, according to reporting from Tom's Hardware and Engadget.

The promotion, called the Customer Appreciation Sale, runs from September 13 to 26. It offers 30% off digital Switch games and bundles, along with select physical games, downloadable content, accessories, amiibo, and apparel. The discounts are available through Nintendo Stores, the Nintendo eShop, and participating retailers.

In a blog post on its U.S. website, the company said the sale was a way to thank players and was made possible in part by tariff-related refunds. Nintendo stated that it absorbed most of the tariff-related costs and that the refunds helped enable the promotion.
