Samsung is reportedly planning to reinstate an under-display camera on its next book-style foldable, according to a report by GSMArena citing a tipster on X.
Samsung used an under-display camera on the inner screen of its book-style foldables across four generations, beginning with the Galaxy Z Fold3 in 2021 and continuing through the Galaxy Z Fold6. With the Galaxy Z Fold7, released last year, the company moved to a conventional punch-hole design. The current Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and the standard Galaxy Z Fold8 kept that punch-hole approach.
The tipster cited by GSMArena says Samsung intends to launch a device next year that brings the under-display camera back, alongside what was described as major internal changes. The report adds that the overall thickness and design are expected to see only minimal alteration.
