Several technology startups in the United States and Europe have secured new funding rounds, targeting sectors from grid-scale energy storage to autonomous drones.
Sacramento-based Peak Energy raised $108 million in an oversubscribed Series B, according to Ventureburn. The round was led by General Motors Ventures, with participation from Maverick Silicon, Infinite Capital, Eclipse, Xora Innovation and LG Technology Ventures. Founded in 2023, the company builds sodium-ion energy storage systems for grid-scale use, employing a passive cooling design that it says can lower energy costs by up to 20 percent by removing the need for energy-intensive active cooling. The company plans to expand domestic manufacturing, enter the data centre market and fulfil more than $1 billion in existing customer orders.
