Australian cryptocurrency exchange Swyftx has secured a license that permits it to offer payment services, according to reporting by Cointelegraph. The move points to a broader strategic shift for the company as it looks beyond its established role as a spot-trading venue.
A Shift Beyond Spot Trading
Interim co-CEO Andrea Yuen indicated that the platform intends to evolve well past its current focus. Cointelegraph reported that Yuen said Swyftx "won’t be a pure crypto spot exchange in future," a comment made in connection with the newly obtained authorisation. The license clears the way for the exchange to develop and offer payment-related services alongside its existing trading operations.
