Windows 11 Update Adds Taskbar Positioning, Start Menu Sizing and Crash Fix
Microsoft's KB5120998 feature update lets users move the Windows 11 taskbar to the top or sides, resizes the Start menu, and delivers a fix for system crashes.

Microsoft has started distributing a new feature update for Windows 11, identified as KB5120998, that brings a range of interface changes alongside a stability fix, according to reporting from TechPowerUp and BleepingComputer.
One of the more prominent additions is expanded taskbar customization. Users can now place the taskbar at the top, left, or right edge of the screen, in addition to the standard bottom position, TechPowerUp reported. A new smaller taskbar mode shrinks both the taskbar and its icons, which is intended to help on devices with limited screen space.
The Start menu gains small, medium, and large size options, and the section previously labeled Recommended has been renamed to Recent. Windows Search receives a visual and functional update, with a less cluttered search home and clearer indicators showing whether a result is an application, setting, file, web result, or Microsoft Store item. Users can switch off web and Store suggestions, and Windows can automatically index frequently used folders.
