Xbox to Test Disc-to-Digital Feature for Physical Games from August 31
Microsoft will let Xbox Insiders unlock digital entitlements for supported physical discs, with Play Anywhere and Cloud Gaming support.

Microsoft is introducing a disc-to-digital feature for Xbox that will allow players who own physical copies of supported games to claim a digital entitlement for the same title. Xbox Insiders will be able to begin testing the feature from August 31, according to GamesIndustry.biz and Tom's Hardware.
Under the system, inserting a game disc into an Xbox One or Xbox Series X and launching the title lets the owner unlock a digital version, making the game accessible through their digital library. Microsoft says this includes support for Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Cloud Gaming where those options are available. Players can also continue to use their physical discs as normal.
