Africa Bitcoin Corporation (ABC), a Bitcoin treasury company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, has been reduced to two directors after four board members stepped down following a dispute with major shareholders over board appointments.
Those who resigned include board chairperson Norma Sephuma, interim chief executive Stafford Masie, and independent directors Snowy Masakale and GG Alcock. According to BitKE, Masie will stay on as interim CEO until a planned departure on February 28, 2027.
The resignations came after shareholders demanded that the four directors be removed. BitKE reported that WGW Capital and other shareholders holding roughly 71.8% of the company's ordinary shares pushed for their removal. TechCabal reported that a separate group holding approximately 76% of ABC's shares had earlier called for two new non-executive directors to be appointed, a request the board opposed on governance grounds.
