Two financial-software companies on opposite sides of the Atlantic have secured new funding to build out AI-driven finance tools.
Moss, a Berlin-based FinTech offering a digital spend management platform aimed at European small and medium-sized businesses, closed a €30 million Series C round at a valuation exceeding €1 billion, according to EU-Startups. The round, led by Portage alongside existing backer Cherry Ventures, gives the company unicorn status.
Founded in 2019 by Ante Spittler, Anton Rummel, Ferdinand Meyer and Stephan Haslebacher, Moss combines corporate cards, invoice management and reimbursements with features such as real-time budgets, approvals and automated accounting. The company says it integrates with ERP systems including DATEV, Xero and Exact Online, as well as HR platforms such as Personio, BambooHR and HiBob. Moss is a BaFin-regulated institution under the PSD2 framework, holds ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification and complies with the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA). In a LinkedIn post announcing the round, co-founder and CEO Ante Spittler said the funding would allow Moss to expand beyond spend management and develop its Finance AI product suite, including configurable agents for finance tasks, according to EU-Startups.
