Bitcoin Core developers have disclosed three software vulnerabilities uncovered through an artificial intelligence scan of the project's code, according to reporting from BitKE and CoinDesk.
One of the flaws allowed a malicious peer to remotely crash Bitcoin nodes running on Windows, macOS, and BSD systems. According to BitKE, an attacker could overwhelm a node with data, causing memory exhaustion and a crash. Nodes running on Linux were not affected.
Developers shipped fixes across supported Bitcoin Core versions on October 27 and 28, 2026, and publicly disclosed the flaw on October 28, 2026. The two additional vulnerabilities involved memory growth and potential failures during blockchain reorganizations.
