Anthropic has launched Claude Haiku 5.5, which it describes as its most affordable and fastest model to date. The release is aimed at high-volume, cost-sensitive work such as text summaries and live customer support.
According to Decrypt, the model costs about 75% less to run than its predecessor, Haiku 4.5. Android Authority reported a similar figure, putting the reduction at nearly 75%.
On performance, Android Authority said Haiku 5.5 improves noticeably over Haiku 4.5, approaches the benchmark results of the more expensive Sonnet 5.5, and beats GPT-6 Luna across all benchmarks shared by Anthropic.
The launch follows a rapid release schedule. Decrypt noted that Haiku 5.5 arrives 15 days after Opus 5.5. Android Authority reported that Anthropic released Opus 5.5 last month, followed by the more economical Sonnet 5.5 roughly a week before Haiku 5.5.
