Apple Confirms Face ID Bug Fix for iPhone 18 Pro Models
Apple says a firmware update due next week will address a freeze-and-reboot bug affecting some iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max units after failed Face ID attempts.

Apple has acknowledged a bug affecting some iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max units and says a fix is in progress, according to GSMArena.
The defect causes the handset to freeze and restart after a failed Face ID authentication attempt. On affected devices, the screen stops responding to touch input following the failed attempt, GSMArena reported.
Apple has confirmed it is working on a correction that is expected to ship in a new firmware update scheduled for release next week, provided the rollout proceeds as planned.
Separately, Apple has detailed other software work tied to the iPhone 18 Pro line. According to InfoQ, the company published the design of Reference Image, a camera mode on the iPhone 18 Pro that signs pixel data at the sensor and processes it in Private Cloud Compute under an Apple signature. InfoQ reported that developers on Hacker News and Reddit questioned what the system actually proves, citing the possibility of photographing a screen, the reliance of its anonymity guarantee on Apple's cloud, and whether identity verification is a suitable use case.
