
Banks Reach Nearly a Quarter of Crypto Providers on EU MiCA Register
The number of banks listed as crypto-asset service providers under the EU's MiCA framework roughly doubled between late June and mid-September 2026, lifting their share to about 23%.

Banks have roughly doubled their presence on the European Securities and Markets Authority's (ESMA) register of crypto-asset service providers under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework, according to reporting by BitKE and Cointelegraph.
The number of banks listed grew to about 80 as of September 16, 2026, up from roughly 40 on June 26, 2026, based on an analysis of the regulator's data cited by BitKE. Over the same window, the total count of registered crypto-asset service providers (CASPs) rose from 243 to 349.
