BioInnovation Institute Adds €7.8M for Six Life-Science Startups

Yngvi Bio, another University of Copenhagen spin-out, is building biological pest control solutions intended to safeguard crops while limiting environmental and biodiversity harm. Proxi Biotech, a spin-out from Statens Serum Institut, is developing vaccine-based immunotherapies for recurrent bacterial infections, initially targeting recurrent Clostridium difficile infections. Sagava, a DTU spin-out, is developing technology that converts waste into usable output.

Founded in 2018, BII is a Danish innovation institute that supports translational research and startups in life sciences and deep tech, combining expertise, networks, infrastructure, business development and financing. It has backed more than 140 startups to date, and its alumni have collectively raised over €1 billion in external capital. In February 2026, BII secured €25 million from the Novo Nordisk Foundation to launch a new initiative called Upscalator, aimed at supporting early-stage startups in Denmark and across Europe.

Recent seed and pre-seed rounds back Sweden's Pixel Systems, France's Bleu Robotics and Colorado's Rendezvous Robotics, spanning digital verification, humanoid robots and modular spacecraft.
