A set of early-stage startups across Europe and the United States have secured new financing for projects ranging from detecting AI-generated content to building self-assembling spacecraft.
Pixel Systems targets digital verification
Swedish startup Pixel Systems raised €2.7 million (about $3.1 million) in a seed round to expand commercial work and develop technology that identifies AI-generated and manipulated images, documents and other digital files, according to EU-Startups. The round was led by Unconventional Ventures at a pre-money valuation of roughly €18 million (about $21 million). EU-Startups reported comments from co-founder and chief executive Robel Efrem, who said generative AI has made fabricating evidence very cheap while most digital processes still assume submitted material is authentic, an assumption he said is disappearing. EU-Startups noted that Efrem previously co-founded the Swedish esports platform Challengermode, which raised €10.1 million in 2020.
