
Bitcoin Tops $80,000 for First Time Since May as Recovery Accelerates
Bitcoin has climbed back above $80,000, up roughly 38% from its summer lows, lifted by ETF inflows and shifting U.S. Treasury policy.

Bitcoin rose above $80,000 for the first time since May 15, 2026, according to reporting from BitKE and CoinDesk. The move extends a rebound that has lifted the cryptocurrency about 38% from its late-June and early-July lows, when it briefly dropped under $58,000.
The recovery has been driven in part by renewed institutional demand and changing expectations around U.S. monetary and fiscal policy. U.S.-listed spot bitcoin ETFs drew about $1.9 billion last week, their strongest weekly inflow since October 2025, adding buying pressure as the wider crypto market recovered.
Decrypt reported that bitcoin and ethereum ETFs together booked their strongest inflow week since October, but noted that most of the roughly $23 billion increase came from existing holdings gaining value rather than new money, with only about $2.6 billion representing fresh capital.
