Block, Inc., the company behind the popular payments service Cash App, has agreed to pay $45 million to resolve allegations that it maintained insufficient security safeguards, according to a settlement announced by a bipartisan group of US state attorneys general.
What the Settlement Covers
The agreement, disclosed on Wednesday, addresses claims that Block did not adequately protect users of Cash App. According to The Record from Recorded Future News, the state attorneys general said the company had incorrectly told users that Cash App provided the same protections associated with a bank.
