
Coinbase Files for CFTC Approval to List Single-Stock Perpetual Futures
Coinbase has asked U.S. regulators to greenlight perpetual futures tied to individual stocks, days after the Senate blocked the CLARITY Act and the CFTC moved ahead with crypto rules.

Coinbase has submitted a filing to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) seeking permission to list perpetual futures contracts linked to individual stocks. The move would introduce a derivatives product common in crypto markets into U.S. equity trading, according to reporting by BitKE.
The filing, made through Coinbase Derivatives, would let U.S. traders take 24/5 exposure to individual stocks without holding the underlying shares, subject to regulatory sign-off. Unlike conventional futures, perpetual contracts carry no set expiration date and generally rely on funding payments to keep their prices close to those of the underlying asset. Coinbase said the proposed products would extend its existing U.S. perpetual futures market.
