
Compulsion Games Regains Independence From Xbox Through Management Buyout
The studio behind We Happy Few and South of Midnight has separated from Xbox Game Studios, with its management acquiring the studio and staff.

Compulsion Games, the developer known for We Happy Few and South of Midnight, has become an independent company again after separating from Xbox Game Studios. According to GamesIndustry.biz, the studio's management acquired both the studio and its team.
The separation followed a wider restructuring at Xbox that involved 3,200 job cuts, during which Xbox Game Studios ended its ties with several studios it had previously acquired, as reported by TechPowerUp.
Speaking to GamesBeat, Compulsion Games chief executive Guillaume Provost said the studio is working through the legal process needed to recover the publishing rights to all of its intellectual property. Provost added that the team intends to be self-sufficient by being selective about which projects it takes on.
