Cross-border payments company Conduit Technology has filed a lawsuit against Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin, over the freezing of $2.76 million held in USDT. The complaint, filed in a U.S. federal court in New York, alleges that Tether froze Conduit's treasury wallet and has declined to release the funds for more than a year.
According to BitKE, Conduit says the freeze took place in September 2025 and was linked to a Brazilian police investigation involving Onix Intermediações, a former Conduit customer. Conduit states that Brazilian authorities did not single out its wallet for freezing and that the money represented its own working capital. Cointelegraph reported that the Brazilian investigation was launched in 2024.
