The Crypto Fear & Greed Index has moved sharply into greed territory, reaching 74 on Tuesday, according to CoinDesk. The reading marks its highest level since the period just before a market downturn in October that saw about $19 billion wiped out.
The jump reflects a rapid change in trader sentiment. Less than two weeks earlier, the index had registered 27, a level associated with caution. CoinDesk reported that the shift shows how quickly market participants have moved from wariness to pursuing riskier positions.
Decrypt reported that the gauge has flipped into what it described as extreme greed for the first time since 2024. According to Decrypt, the index stood at 36, within the fear zone, only a month ago.
The Fear & Greed Index tracks market sentiment on a scale that ranges from fear to greed, with higher numbers indicating greater appetite for risk among traders.
