The number of investors taking part in crypto funding rounds has fallen to its lowest point in nearly six years, according to CryptoRank data cited by BitKE.
In July 2026, only 150 unique firms participated in crypto funding rounds, the weakest monthly reading since November 2020, based on figures running through 28 July 2026. That total marks an 87% decline from the sector's peak in May 2022, when 1,177 unique investors backed deals in a single month.
BitKE reported that the contraction reflects the departure of many smaller venture funds, family offices, and angel syndicates that had entered the market during the 2021-2022 boom, leaving a smaller group of established firms to dominate dealmaking.
