Researchers tied to Ethereum are warning that rapid advances in artificial intelligence could undermine the cryptographic security protecting crypto wallets, potentially sooner than threats from quantum computing.
According to Decrypt, Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake urged holders to calmly shift their funds to unused addresses, cautioning that AI-driven mathematics could break the cryptographic signatures that secure crypto before quantum computers manage to do so.
Cointelegraph reported that Ethereum researchers are recommending an orderly migration of funds to fresh addresses, framing the move as a precaution against the possibility that AI could compromise private-key security ahead of quantum machines. The outlet noted that Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has backed the idea of a crypto "bunker mode" in response to the fast pace of AI progress in mathematics.
