Google has begun rolling out its September 2026 Pixel Feature Drop, delivering a set of new features to supported Pixel phones and watches. According to Android Authority, the release also brings Android 17 QPR1 to the stable channel. The outlet noted that this update is separate from the September Android Drop that arrived earlier in the month.
A central part of the update is a revamped Pixel VIPs widget. Google first introduced the widget as part of the June 2025 Pixel Feature Drop, letting users see key details such as recent calls, WhatsApp messages, locations, and birthdays for up to eight chosen contacts. Android Authority reported that the new version adds quick actions for single-tap calling and texting directly from the home screen, notification badges to highlight urgent messages, and a floating overlay navigation menu for swiping between VIP profiles. The improvements are available through the Google Contacts app and are rolling out to Pixel 6 phones and newer across all supported regions and languages.
