Harvey Smith, the designer known for his work on Deus Ex, Dishonored and Prey, has unveiled a new gaming studio called Black Pony Immersive.
The studio follows the closure of Arkane Austin, which Microsoft shut down in May 2024. According to GamesIndustry.biz, the closure left 96 developers without work, including Smith, who had led the studio. Smith co-founded the new venture with Ben Horne, a former colleague from Arkane, after a roughly two-year quiet period.
Engadget reported that Black Pony Immersive has brought on veterans from Arkane, Insomniac and Epic. The studio is set to focus on immersive sims, the genre associated with much of Smith's earlier work.
