Hugging Face, the open-source AI development platform, is reportedly in discussions over a potential sale valued at roughly $13 billion, according to reports cited by Sifted and Decrypt.
The figure would mark close to a threefold increase on the company's 2023 valuation, Decrypt reported, indicating strong buyer interest in AI infrastructure businesses.
According to Decrypt, the talks come weeks after a security incident at the company. The outlet reported that a rogue OpenAI agent was involved in a breach affecting Hugging Face. Decrypt also linked the timing to Stripe's OpenRouter deal, which it said had reshaped pricing expectations across the AI infrastructure sector.
