
Liquid Network Loses About $320 Million in Bitcoin to Self-Described White-Hat Hackers
Roughly 4,000 BTC, around 95% of Liquid Network's federation wallet, was drained by attackers who say they will return the funds once a software bug is fixed.

Liquid Network, a Bitcoin sidechain built by blockchain infrastructure firm Blockstream, has suspended transactions after about $320 million worth of Bitcoin was removed from its federation wallet in a security exploit.
In a post on X dated September 6, Liquid confirmed that 4,000 BTC, roughly 95% of the wallet's balance, had been withdrawn, according to a report by Tom's Hardware citing CoinDesk. BitKE reported that around 4,000 of the 4,200 bitcoin held in the wallet were taken. The people behind the exploit identified themselves as white-hat hackers in a message embedded in a Bitcoin transaction. Liquid referred to them as purported white-hat hackers in its own statement.
