Meta Unveils $1,300 VR Glasses Weighing Just 100 Grams
Meta's lightest VR device yet uses a tethered processing puck, 5K micro-OLED displays per eye, and IMAX certification, priced well below the Apple Vision Pro.

Meta has introduced a new pair of VR Glasses that it describes as its lightest such device to date, according to reporting from Android Authority and Engadget.
The glasses weigh 100 grams, which Meta says is five times lighter than its Quest 3 headset. Rather than housing all components in the headset itself, the design relies on a separate puck connected by an optical cable. That puck handles processing, storage, and the battery, and includes a capacitive surface that doubles as a trackpad for navigating the interface.
The device uses pancake lenses and micro-OLED displays offering 5K resolution per eye, according to Android Authority. It is certified for Dolby Vision and IMAX Enhanced, and can project a keyboard and trackpad onto a desk. Unlike the bulkier Quest line, the new glasses adopt a sunglass-like form that Android Authority compared to the Oakley Meta Vanguard sports glasses.
