Metaplanet, a company known for holding Bitcoin as a treasury asset, has said it is examining the development of Bitcoin-backed digital credit products in Japan. The initiative is being explored alongside JPYC and Progmat, according to reporting from Cointelegraph and CoinDesk. As of the reports, no product has been brought to market.
What Is Being Explored
According to CoinDesk, the effort centres on tokenized credit products collateralized by Bitcoin, with the stated aim of building credit markets in Japan that can operate around the clock. Cointelegraph reported that the work remains at a study stage, with Metaplanet, JPYC and Progmat assessing the concept rather than launching a live offering.
