New York Attorney General Letitia James has reached a settlement that permanently bars former Celsius Network chief executive Alex Mashinsky from the cryptocurrency, securities, and commodities industries, according to BitKE and Cointelegraph.
The agreement, announced on October 9 2026, resolves a civil lawsuit originally filed in 2023. That suit accused Mashinsky of misleading hundreds of thousands of investors about the financial health of Celsius, the risks of its investments, and the safety of customer deposits. According to BitKE, the lawsuit alleged he presented the platform as a safe alternative to conventional banking while hiding losses tied to risky investments.
