Project Ventures, an independent early-stage venture capital firm connected to the Imperial College London ecosystem, has launched its debut fund of £5 million (€5.8 million), the company announced. The fund will back pre-seed and seed-stage startups working across deeptech and artificial intelligence.
The firm plans to invest between £100,000 (€116,000) and £300,000 (€349,000) in each portfolio company, and it has already completed three investments: Tewke, NexusAM, and Neubond.
Project Ventures describes itself as the first independent, alumni-powered venture fund dedicated to Imperial's startup ecosystem. According to Tech.eu, more than 80 per cent of the fund's limited partners are Imperial alumni. The model draws on alumni-backed venture networks established at universities in the United States, using ties within the Imperial community to source and support companies early on.
