Qualcomm Unveils Two Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Chips as Motorola Reveals First Phone
Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and a higher-end Extreme variant, the first mobile chips with 5GHz CPUs. Motorola's Signature 27 is among the first phones to use the Extreme chip.

Qualcomm has introduced two versions of its next flagship mobile processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, according to reporting from Android Authority and Engadget. Both are described as the first mobile chips to feature 5GHz CPUs.
The higher-end Extreme variant brings a set of video and graphics upgrades over the standard chip. Android Authority reported that it supports 8K video capture at 60fps and 4K slow-motion recording at 240fps. The Extreme chip also includes a more capable GPU with Adreno Neural Fusion and stronger AI hardware.
Qualcomm had previously teased that it was preparing two chips rather than one, and confirmed both at the Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii. The company launched the preceding Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 roughly a year earlier.
