The Stellar Community Fund distributed roughly $4.04 million worth of XLM to 40 projects in its 45th funding round, with five of the recipients focused specifically on African markets, according to BitKE.
The Africa-focused projects cover areas including stablecoin banking, cross-border payments, trade finance and local-currency settlement, reflecting an ongoing effort to link dollar-denominated digital assets with existing financial infrastructure across the continent.
Among the funded projects, Sorted received $150,000 to build a stablecoin banking application aimed at users on Android Go, older or basic phones, and connections with intermittent connectivity. The project targets users in Africa and South Asia and seeks to offer access to digital dollars without requiring them to manage crypto-native wallets, gas fees or bridging, according to BitKE.
