Tether, the company behind USDT, the largest stablecoin by circulation, reported net operating profit of $1.5 billion for the third quarter of 2026, according to BitKE.
The company said its excess reserves nearly doubled during the quarter, rising by roughly $3.5 billion to bring the buffer to almost $8 billion. Tether framed the larger buffer as added protection against potential losses and as support for maintaining USDT's peg to the US dollar.
According to the attestation figures, Tether's total assets topped $181 billion against liabilities of about $173 billion, leaving roughly $8 billion in assets above its obligations. USDT in circulation reached approximately $174 billion, which the company attributed to rising demand for dollar-denominated digital assets.
