Two European startups have announced new funding rounds aimed at scaling their respective technologies.
Greencovery raises €1 million
Greencovery, a FoodTech company based in Wageningen, has secured €1 million to expand its cocoa upcycling technology toward industrial-scale production, according to EU-Startups. The round drew investment from ROM InWest, existing shareholder Brightlands Venture Partners, and a private investor. The company said a further €3 million round is underway.
Founded in 2018, Greencovery develops separation technology that converts food industry side streams into functional ingredients. The firm says its mild separation process can extract low-carbon-footprint ingredients from a range of side streams. Having validated initial commercial batches with clients, the company is scaling operations with a strategic partner toward a 1,000-ton capacity and is building a circular cocoa value chain in North Holland, a region it says generates more than 350,000 tons of food-grade side streams each year.
