
UK Sanctions Crypto Exchanges and Payment Platforms Over Russia Links
Britain has targeted three crypto exchanges and two payment platforms tied to the Kremlin-backed A7 network, part of efforts to curb Russian sanctions evasion.

The United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on three cryptocurrency exchanges and two payment platforms, accusing them of links to Russian sanctions evasion. According to the UK government, two of the sanctioned payment services handled transactions involving A7, a Kremlin-backed financial network accused of helping Russian entities bypass Western restrictions.
The UK said the measures are designed to make it harder for sanctioned entities to move and access funds. According to the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, the A7 network claimed to have moved more than $90 billion in 2025, an amount the department described as close to half of Russia's annual military spending.
