The US Supreme Court has permitted a Texas law mandating age verification for app store downloads to take effect, according to The Record from Recorded Future News. A student advocacy organization and a technology trade group had asked the court to place the Texas App Store Accountability Act on hold on an emergency basis while a lower court continues to review the case, but that request did not succeed.
The outcome means the statute can be enforced during ongoing litigation rather than being paused. The Record reported that the challengers sought the stay until the lower court reaches its ruling, indicating the underlying legal dispute remains unresolved.
