US House Passes Bill Requiring AM Radio in All Vehicles, Including EVs

The US House of Representatives has passed legislation that would require automakers to include AM radio in every vehicle sold in the country, including electric vehicles. According to InsideEVs, the bill would apply the mandate across all new cars.
The measure, known as the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act, passed on Tuesday with broad support, as reported by Sports Video Group. It now advances to the Senate, where related legislation has 60 co-sponsors and similarly bipartisan backing. If enacted, the law would require carmakers to keep AM radios in vehicles for at least the next eight years.
Supporters have framed the requirement primarily around safety, arguing that AM radio remains an important part of the government's emergency communication system and that many Americans still rely on it, according to Sports Video Group.
